Today’s figure drawing practice focused on improving line quality, rhythm, movement and confidence through the FORCE approach to figure drawing.

I worked from the Proko lesson “Improving Line Quality and Rhythm — FORCE Series Part 1.” Rather than concentrating on detail, the exercise encouraged me to look for the direction of movement through the body, the relationship between curves, and the way a line can communicate energy and weight.

One of the most useful aspects of this study was becoming more conscious of how a line begins, travels through the figure and connects one form to another. I am trying to move away from hesitant, fragmented marks and towards lines that feel more intentional and rhythmic.

This forms part of my continuing daily figure-drawing practice and my broader study of gesture, structure and the expressive human form.

I am documenting these exercises in my Sketchbook as a record of continued learning and artistic development.
