I am preparing the surface of the Gravitas desk sculpture blocks by working them slowly against the belt sander. This is not just sanding for a finish; it is part of finding the correct edge, weight, and surface before the object becomes final.

The process is controlled and physical. Each side, corner, and mark matters because the object depends on silence, structure, and material presence. This is part of the development and manufacture of the Pieter Lategan | Silent Monumentalism / Gravitas desk sculpture series.
